Hellabeem Foundation in Sri Lanka
The Hellabeem Foundation is a volunteer organization that raises funds for Hellabeem, an internal training and rehabilitation centre for disadvantaged young people who are physically handicapped in Sri Lanka.
Hellabeem is committed to this particularly vulnerable group, by offering them a fair chance at an independent and full participation in society. The youngsters stay on campus for several years and are prepared for an independent life. At the request of the board of the Zorg van de Zaak Foundation 25% of the donation was spent on girls.
The contribution of the Zorg van de Zaak Foundation is used for the implementation of vocational training for disadvantaged young people with physical disabilities (25% girls), such as teachers’ salaries, teaching materials (computers) and the organization of workshops for various professional directions. A search for a profession that suits the individual potential is done for each participant. Upon completion of the training, the goal is for the adolescents to be self-employed or salaried making them independent and self-reliant.
